Leon Northcut

Leon Northcut, 89, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at home in Hixson following a brief illness. Leon was born in Sewanee, Tenn., to the late Clara and O.L. Northcut. He was a life-long resident of Tennessee. Leon was a graduate of Grundy County High School in Tracy City and Tennessee Technology University in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts. Leon met his wife, Barbara Reeves, at a New Year’s Eve party and were married in 1952 at Red Bank Church of Christ. During college Leon worked with his Uncle Vernon making furniture in Virginia. Following graduation he worked with Southern Wood Preserving Company, Chattanooga Royal and Chattanooga Glass Company. He retired from Cannon Equipment. Leon was a dedicated and long-time member of Red Bank Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and at the time of his death a member of the White Oak Church of Christ. He had a passion for wood-working and model trains which he shared with his grandchildren. Leon loved bird watching, perfecting his pancakes and chocolate chip cookies, and mailing newsletter articles to his grandchildren.
