Wayne Trammell

BRAYTON — Eddie Wayne Trammell, 69, a resident of the Brayton Community of Bledsoe County, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018. During his illness he received excellent care at Erlanger’s Cancer Center and Life Care of Dayton. The family is humbled by the expertise and support given by countless caregivers and offers sincere thanks to each one, beginning with Dr. Sumana Nagireddy and Dr. Waleed Mourad. Wayne was a 1967 graduate of Brainerd High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served as an Administrative Specialist, Detachment 23, 30th Weather Squadron at PhuCat Airbase in Vietnam. Staff Sergeant Trammell completed his military service in June of 1971. Wayne later was employed in auto sales in Cleveland and Chattanooga. He worked for DuPont’s contracted labor groups as well, but many will know Wayne from his job at Lowe’s in Dayton, Tenn. Wayne was an avid bass fisherman and bird watcher who enjoyed many hours on local waters, especially Chickamauga Lake. He was a treasured son, brother, uncle and friend and will be dearly missed. Wayne was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edmond Watters Trammell and Nola Wright Trammell and his beloved sister, Barbara Trammell Wood. Wayne is survived by his sister, Linda Trammell Shell, of Brayton; nieces, Sherri Wood Bales and Susan Wood, both of Chattanooga, Shannon Shell Cannon, of Sale Creek and Kristi Shell Green of Doha, Qatar; special nephew, Brian Wood, of Apison and three great nieces and three great nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, and 11 a.m. to 12 (noon) on Wednesday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Graveside services for Wayne will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Deacon Bobby Turner officiating.
