Helen Ridley

Helen Marie Ridley, 88, of McDonald, Tenn., passed away on Oct. 22, 2018. She was born on June 18, 1930, in Ooltewah, Tenn., to the late James and Mandy Rogers. Four years ago Helen moved back here from Dalton, Ga., to this area that she called home for 47 years. She was a member of Bancroft Church of God where she loved to attend. She was a tremendous woman of God and loved reading her Bible. Helen also enjoyed quilting and working in the yard. She was a great storyteller and a lifelong learner. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Sam Henry Jr. and Loyd Ridley; children, Larry Alvin Henry, Gary Allen Henry, and Billy Joe Henry; brothers, James Rogers and Eston Brogan; sister, Deloska Ridley; granddaughter, Shelia Pearce. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Johnny Henry (Kaye), Debbie Henry Garrett (Charlie), and Mike Henry (Kathryn), daughter-in-law, Diane Henry; sister, Rhoda Powell; grandchildren, Cherish Williams, Danielle Griffin, Samantha Garrett, Samuel Henry, David Henry, Rachel McCorkle, Michele Schild, and Ashley Sharp; great-grandchildren, Eddie Griffin, Riley McCorkle, Marley McCorkle, Memphis McCorkle, and Carlee Sharp. In addition to these, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at Bancroft Church of God located at 180 Bancroft Road, McDonald, TN. The family will also receive friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Ooltewah Cemetery.
