Reta Mullins

Reta Davenport Mullins, 86, of Ooltewah, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, after her hard fought battle with Dementia. She was born in Grassy Cove, Tenn., and then made her home in Ooltewah. Reta was a good friend and neighbor to many. She loved living on a farm and loved animals. She also loved to cook, sew, garden and her flowers. Reta loved listening to gospel, country music and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed listening to her granddaughter, Amy, sing. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Carson Mullins; parents, Fred and Jewel Davenport; brothers, Thomas Davenport, Judd Davenport and Andy Davenport; sisters, Leah June Davenport, Frances Orrell and Charlotte Gause. Survivors include her children, Gerald and Wilma Mullins, McDonald, Tenn., Bill and Donna Mullins, Ooltewah and Mary Calfee and Jim McAbee, Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Amy Calfee, David Calfee, Jason Mullins, and Julia Dickson Johnson; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Don) Adair, Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, in the New McDonald Cemetery with Chester Bankston officiating. A special thank you goes out to her friends and caretakers at Brookdale Senior Living in Cleveland, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department, Attn: Christmas Fund for Kids, P.O. Box 310, Harrison, TN 37341.
