Archie Slater

WHITWELL — Archie Leon Slater, 88, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Rosie Slater; grandson, Donnie Lee Hankins; brother, Leroy Slater, Jr. Mr. Slater was a member of Ider Church of Christ and he served in the U.S. Army. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Aileen Loudermilk Slater; daughter, Phyllis (Randall) Reeves, all of Whitwell; stepson, Joseph (Mary) Starr, of Tullahoma; sister, Sarah Olene Hendricks, of Rossville, Ga.; grandchildren, Adam (Christy), Ryan (Beth), Steven (Amanda), Travis (Rebecca), Shelley (Jonathan); great-grandchildren, Sarah (Justin), Hanna, Donovan, Ben Paige, Evan, Noah, Eli, Ethan, Gavin, Caroline, Julia; three great-great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Grayson, Bowen; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Cecil Baxter and Rev. Brenda Woods officiating. Interment at Red Hill Cemetery. Military service provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
