Betty Dickinson

Betty Dickinson, 94, of Hixson, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018. Born in Weinheim, Germany to the late Joseph and Maria Frick Schneider. After surviving World War II in Germany she and her late husband moved to the U.S. in 1947. She has been a resident of the Chattanooga area since 1949. Betty worked as a nurse for over 30 years at Hixson Hospital then sold real estate for Aileen Burris for several years. Betty and her husband were founding member of Middle Valley Church of Christ. She was a former member of Middle Valley Lions Club and volunteered with Ganns Middle Valley School. She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew “Andy” Dickinson; husband, Andrew J. Dickinson; granddaughter, Lashon Hall; grandson, Jason Roberts. Betty is survived by three daughters, Betty “Rea” Douglas (Larry) Clements, Carolyn (Bill) Poston and Mickie Dickinson; grandchildren, Lee Johnson and Andy (Mandie) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Lara Rae, Kerra, Maddie, and Joshua Roberts, Gage and Tori Wooden; great-great-grandchildren, Jensen and Lettie McDonald; special nephew, Gunter Schneider and family. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Alexian Village for their love and care given to Betty and her family. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, and 12 (noon) to 1 p.m. on Friday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at the North Chapel with Minister Larry Clements officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the Greater Chattanooga Christian Services, 6816 Ty Hi Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.
