Jewell Harper

Jewell Harper, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2019. A native of Soddy, Tenn., she has been a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, she was a member of the Shelter Church and was retired from Wal-Mart. She was the daughter of the late William and Martha Hineman and was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter L. Harper; step-children, Glen Harper, Robin Harper, Steve Harper and Kathy Touchstone; brother, Larry Hineman; sisters, Fay Aslinger and Janice Hinton. Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Doug) Rodgers, Columbus, GA and Sherrie (Paul) Hudgins, Apison; grandchildren Collin (Stephanie) Rodgers, Erin Rodgers, Miranda Smedley; Megan Hudgins and Trey Hudgins; great-grandson Josiah Best; Stepchildren, Roy Harper, Teresa Kelley, Connie Rowland, Kelly Davenport, Danny Harper, Elaine Harper, Joe Harper and Trevor Harper; siblings, Carolyn (Howard) Winters, Mona (Brian) Charlesworth, Louise (William) Roberts, Stanley (Sandra) Hineman, David (Pat) Hineman, Thomas (Darlene) Hineman and Rhonda Sharp; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. Sterling Jetton and Darrell Winters officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday before the service at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
