Michael Agnew

Dr. Michael “Mike” Agnew, 61, went to be with the Lord Monday April 8, 2019. Mike was the son of Jimmie Ruth Garrett and Robert A. Agnew, Sr of Chattanooga. Dr. Agnew graduated from East Ridge High School in 1976. He received a scholarship to wrestle at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for Coach Jim Morgan. Mike left UTC and then attended and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute in Theology, where he met and married his wife, Cherrie Agnew. Mike completed his Master’s Degree from Trinity Seminary in Psychology and then completed his Doctorates at Northern Illinois University in Education. Mike worked at numerous colleges as Director of MBA Placement, such as, Wharton School of Business, University of Maryland, University of Minnesota and Michigan State University (His Favorite). Mike was a devoted Christian, husband and father to his four children, Rob, Jaclyn, Amber, Katie and six grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Robert A. Agnew, Sr.; step-father, William J. Garrett; and sister, Donna Ruth Castings. Mike is survived by his wife, Cherrie Agnew; four children; grandchildren; his mother; his brother, Robert A. Agnew, Jr., of Pompano Beach; his brother, Richard D. Agnew, of Chattanooga; and his Great Aunt, Lynn Curtis. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday at his home church of New Covenant Bible Church in St. Charles, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions to Red Bank Church of Christ memory Michael E. Agnew.
