Robert Thurman

SPRING CITY — Robert L. Thurman, 75, died Monday, April 15, 2019, at Rhea Medical Center. A lifetime resident of Spring City, Robert was the son of the late Lloyd B. and Pearl Wade Thurman. He was a graduate of Spring City High School. Robert was the co-owner of T&M Lawnmowers for 52 years. He was a member of the Rhea Springs Lodge #310 F.&A.M. Robert enjoyed farming, raising cattle and studying his bible. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Robert was also preceded in death by his son Stanley Thurman. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lilah Thomas Thurman of Spring City; son, Randy (Christie) Thurman, of Oak Ridge; sister, Betty Jo (“Chick”) Purser, of Spring City; grandchildren, Cole (Sarah) Thurman, of Spring City, Kenzie (Josh) Jenkins, of Dayton, Kaitlyn Thurman, of Loudon, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren Andie, Tenley and Elliot Thurman, Camryn Reed and Lillian and Jaylyn Jenkins. Funeral services are Thursday, April 18, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Spring City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home. Vaughn Funeral Home, Spring City, is in charge of arrangements.
