Floyd Kennedy

Floyd E. Kennedy, age 87, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 20, 2019. He was born in Fort Payne, Alabama to the late Hoyt and Alma Kennedy. Floyd served our country during the Korean War in the United States Navy. He retired from the Ironworkers Local # 704 where he served as Assistant Business Agent for 12 years. Floyd was a member of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years. He was the 4th grade Sunday School teacher for 14 years, served as an usher for many years and was well known by the children for always having peppermint candy. Floyd loved traveling and spending time with his family and special friends on cruises and trips to Florida. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Kennedy; siblings, Leslie and Obie Kennedy and Louise Brewer. Floyd is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith S. Kennedy; children, Scott (Kathy) Kennedy and Greta Kennedy; grandchildren, Liz (Jay) Stanfield and Josh (fiancé Morgan) Kennedy; sister, Bonnie Hamrick and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 11 am to 2 pm on Monday, April 22, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service for Floyd will follow at 2 pm on Monday at the North Chapel with Dr. Alan Johnston officiating.
