James Keane

James Michael “Jim” Keane, 58, joined his mother in the glorious presence of our Lord, on July 26, 2019. Jim was known by many for his huge personality, spirituality and for his love of life along with all of its creatures, great and small. At his core, Jim had an unquenchable thirst for adventure. His spirit of adventure started very early in his life and would last throughout. As a young boy, many days were spent exploring the lakes, mountains and streams of our area. As he grew, so did his wanderlust. He set out to see the world and headed out on the road. At every stop along his travels, Jim embraced and thrived in his many new surroundings. Jim’s travels eventually led him back home to Chattanooga, where he chose to put down his roots. Ever the entrepreneur and self-made man, Jim was able to start and grow several successful business ventures. As Jim nurtured his endeavors, he also mentored many others. By giving of his time, knowledge and experience, Jim encouraged and supported those individuals to follow their own business pursuits. Jim lived his life with a vigor unmatched by few others. As hard as he worked in his business dealings, Jim played even harder. Jim loved being with his many friends. Dubbed by his beloved Firewalkers as the "Titan of the Territory", he and his friends spent many hours paddling, swimming, hiking, camping or just holding court over a meal. Whatever the situation, Jim's passion for life and being with his friends was incomparable. Jim will be remembered in different ways, by many different people. Some will remember him as an adventurer, entrepreneur, mentor, a dedicated loving father or a devoted husband. But he will be remembered by all that knew him well, as a great friend! Jim was preceded in death by his loving mother, Fran Keane and his grandparents, James and Catherine Keane and Adolph and Frances Bellatoni. He is survived by his wife and soul mate, Rowena (Nina) Keane; father, Colman Keane, Sr. (Rena); brother, Colman Keane, Jr. (Cindy), brother, Joseph Keane; sons, Wesley and Christopher Keane; and nieces, Shae Keane, Parris Shelley, Emily and Jessica Keane. A private celebration of life will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers or donations, let your beloved know the depth of your love.
