Brian Yarber

CLEVELAND — Brian “Jeff” Yarber, 49, of Cleveland, passed away suddenly on August 25, 2019 at his home. Jeff Yarber was born in Cleveland, TN on April 15, 1970. Jeff was the son of Danny and Debbie Humphries and Charles and Christina Yarber. He graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1989. He went on to earn a degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; also, completed a Master of Business Administration. He was elected to represent the citizens of the firth district as the County Commissioner for 17 Years. He was the second longest serving member of the existing County Commission. He had been employed as an independent sales representative of various companies doing business in Southeast Tennessee. Besides his love of his family, Yarber’s passion was his service to the people not only of the Fifth District but also of the entire County. Jeff was known for his smile, his contagious friendly personality, and his desire to help anyone in need. If you saw him and talked for a few moments, you were almost certainly going to learn of the accomplishments of his daughters and his unsurpassed dedication to their success in life. Yarber served the Commission as an active member and Chairman of the Law Enforcement Committee and was elected by his fellow Commissioners to be Vice-Chairman for several terms. He was known for his commitment to those who serve as First Responders and putting their lives and personal health on the line in their daily service. The family wishes to express their sincerest appreciation for the substantial outpouring of love which they have received. Jeff’s life is an example of the value of involvement by individuals in serving the people of their community. Jeff Yarber demonstrated that one person can make a difference in the lives of one person at a time and often all who are served by their government. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents: Luke and Shirley Hutto and Anderson and Pearl Yarber. Survivors include all four parents, Danny and Debbie Humphries and Charles and Christina Yarber; his beloved daughters, Haley and Hannah Yarber; brother, Tim Yarber; his niece and nephew, Carly and Seth Yarber; his niece, Morgan Blitchington, all of Cleveland, TN; and many other family members. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at South Cleveland Church of God with Sheriff Steve Lawson, George Gray and Commissioner Bill Winters speaking and Commissioner Charlotte Peak Jones, soloist. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with Brian Smith, Tim Yarber, Matt Coven, Don Scoggins, Raj Patel, Eric Phillips, Travis Culpepper and Jason Dean serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Bradley County Commission and the Bradley County Honor Guard. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the church on Thursday prior to the service. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to South Cleveland Church of God and the people of the Fifth District who aided Jeff Yarber in his quest to make a difference. It is the family’s hope that you remember that the uncertainty of the length of your life does not limit the contributions which you can make during the time which you have to make them. The family requests that memorial donations be made in Jeff’s memory to the Jeff Yarber Memorial Fund or to the South Cleveland Church of God.
