Lois Janney
BIRMINGHAM — Lois King Janney, 89, died peacefully at her home in Town Village Independent
Living in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 9, 2019. She had lived there for one year.
She previously resided in Chattanooga for the past 68 years.
She was a member of Brainerd Baptist Church and Bethany Class. She volunteered
her time with several organizations the Shriners organization, most notably the
Legionettes, Alhambra Ladies Helping hand, and the Asebi Court #36. One of her
favorite pastimes was knitting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Albert M. Janney, her
parents, Tempie and Claude King, and a brother, C.D. King.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Steve (Cindy) Janney, Birmingham, Ala., and Gary Janney, Santa Clarita, Calif., 5 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, brother, Cecil (Cheryl) King, Stevenson, Ala., sister, Mary Smith,
Rossville, Ga., and numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Lois’ life will be held graveside in the Chattanooga National
Cemetery on Wednesday Feb. 13, 2019, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from
4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
