Edna Derrick

CLEVELAND — Edna Martha Blackwell Derrick, 85, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, in a health care facility in Ooltewah. She was a member of Bellefounte Baptist Church. She was a member of the Calhoun Order of the Eastern Star #187, Charleston Ruritan Club, and LSONA Asebi Court #36. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert (Bob) L. Derrick, Sr.; parents, William J. Blackwell and Essie Mae Doss Lingerfelt; three brothers, Walter T. Blackwell, Billy J. Blackwell, and Herbert Blackwell; and one sister, Mary Evelyn Blackwell. She is survived by her son, Robert L. Derrick, Jr., and wife Nelda; two grandchildren, Rachel Taylor and husband Cameron, and Adam Derrick; two great-grandchildren, Caydyn Taylor and Madilyn Taylor; one nephew Dwayne Blackwell; one niece, Darice Davis and husband Kevin, of Franklin, N.C.; several great nieces and nephews; one brother, Frank Blackwell, of Westland, MI. A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Lake Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes to conclude the service. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019, at the funeral home.
