Mary June Carter
Mary June Carter, 88 of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2019, in a local hospital.
June was born in Eden, N.C., but lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area. She loved to spend time with her family, dance, go boating, tell jokes, and listen to music; especially Elvis and Tom Jones. She was very proud to
have seen Elvis perform in person. June was a hairstylist for many years and
thoroughly enjoyed her work.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest W. Carter; parents, RC “Doc” and Ruth Anderson; sisters, Carole Sizer and Angela Barrett; and grandson, Scott Ransom.
Survivors include her three daughters, Bobbie Burks, Sherry Carter, and Sonia Long; son, William “Bill” Ransom; sister, Betsye (Jerry) Holmes;
grandchildren, Danny (Mary) Kelley, Sonnie Alexis Carter, Summer (Josh) Loughridge, and Stephen Kendrick, Jr.; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Feb. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
