Lillie Mae Tollison

DOYLE — Mrs. Lillie Mae Ballew Tollison, 85, passed away Saturday evening, Dec. 29, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Tollison was born Dec. 28, 1933, in Sparta, Tenn., to the late Joseph and Effie Jane Carter Ballew. Through hard work and determination, she graduated with a masters degree from University of Tennessee Chattanooga and had a long career of social work for the State of Tennessee. In her retirement she enjoyed the cookouts and fellowship provided by Margaret (Walt) Herron and Bobbie (Donnie) Evans. She was a member of the Doyle Church of the Nazarene. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, a Korean War Veteran, Billy Keith Tollison, Sr.; a daughter, Debra Tollison Howard; brothers, Joe Edward, Jay, Frank, Harold and Bobby Ballew; sisters-in-law, Ruth (Wilford) McCulley, Kate (Larry) Sullivan. Surviving family members include her daughter, Janis Tollison (Joe) Swafford; son, Billy (Valerie Winton) Tollison, II; grandchildren, Jaime (Kevin) Whitfield, Joseph Lee (Summer) Swafford, Jr., Joel Robert (Norina) Swafford, Monica (Jason) Bohannon, Johnny (Jamie) Blancett, Macey Tollison; Great-grandchildren, Andrew (Gabi Ramsey) Judd, Haley Judd, Drey (Salena) Whitfield, Corbin Blancett, Cole Bohannon, Connor Bohannon, Matthew Blancett, Lillie Swafford, Colton Swafford, Kayson Swafford, Sebastian Swafford; Great-great-granddaughter, Willow Whitfield; sisters, Christine Horton and Doris Ann Ballew; brothers, Tom Ballew, Lee Ballew, Rufus Ballew; son-in-law: Jim Howard; brother-in-law: Doyle (Mary) Tollison; sister-in-law: Linda (Gary) Billings; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Tollisontown Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday from noon until the service at Hunter Funeral Home. Tracy Curtis and Jim Tollison will officiate. Cole Bohannon, Connor Bohannon, Johnny Blancett, Joseph Swafford, Kevin Whitfield and Andrew Judd will serve the family as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hunter Funeral Home.
