Martha Newport

Martha Castings Newport, 64, of Chattanooga passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at a local hospital. Martha was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga where she was a 1972 graduate of City High School. She retired from TVA in 2009 after a 29 year career. Martha attended McFarland United Methodist Church throughout the years. She had a strong love for family. Martha loved her son dearly and her granddaughter brought her so much joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Newport; parents, Walt and Laura Jo Castings; and brother, Walter Castings, III. Survivors include her son, Zackery Newport; brother, Gary (Faye) Castings; granddaughter, Emery Aurora Newport; two nieces, Stefanie (Jeremy) Castings Wynne and Laura (Dewayne) Castings Wisner; and one nephew, Grant (Amanda) Castings. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at 4 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel. Interment will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
