Velma Wilson

LaFAYETTE — Velma “Mae” Wilson, 68, passed away on Thursday morning, Jan. 3, 2019, at Memorial Hospital, in Chattanooga. She was born on April 22, 1950, in LaFayette, Ga., where she remained all of her life. She was the daughter of John and Pearlie Mae Stoker, of Kensington, Ga. Mae loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and was a great baker. Mae was a kind, caring and honest women with a strong spirit that all who knew her appreciated. Mae worked in Production for most of her life and happily retired in 2014. Mae is survived by her children, Stacey (Karen) Thomas, son of Rock Spring, Ga., Holly (Danny) Claire, daughter of Chickamauga, Ga., and Jonathan Wilson, son of Norfolk, Va. (Navy); Kaylee and Jenna Claire, granddaughters; and Justin Thomas, grandson; along with several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind countless memories for all who loved her to remember and will be greatly missed. Graveside service will be held at Coulter Memorial Cemetery (AKA Cassandra Cemetery), Hwy. 193, Kensington, GA on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
