J.E. Reed

J. E. Reed, 82, of Chattanooga died Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Chattanooga to the late Guy Allen Reed and Effie May Payne Reed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Reed; sisters, Anna Mae Coleman, and Carolyn Reed; brother, Eddie Reed. Mr. Reed was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially being with people. He was a member of the American Legion Post 95. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his life partner, Linda Parks; son, Randy Reed; daughter, Donna Hicks; grandchildren, Jeremy Reed, Jennifer Chandler, Brady Reed, Brandie Overholt, Krista Fox, and J. J. Hicks; great-grandchildren, Andy Reed, Skylar Henley, Allyson Reed, Christian Chandler, Rylan Chandler, McKenzie Chandler, Easton Overholt, Jordyn Overholt, Karli Overholt, Colton Fox, and Ashlyn Fox; sisters, Betty Sue Reed, and Margaret Harvey; brothers, Chester Reed and Billy Reed. The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, with funeral services following at 6 p.m. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
