Walter Hartline

JASPER — Walter E. Hartline, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at his home in Jasper. A native of South Pittsburg, Mr. Hartline was the son of the late Gordon Lee and Zera Mae Hall Hartline. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy and retired from TVA Widows Creek in 1993. Mr. Hartline was a member of Midway Baptist Church where he served as music director for over 40 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Melda Dodson and Jean Raley, as well as a brother, Robert E. Hartline. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary F. Shrum Hartline; children, Mike (Carrie) Hartline, Greg (Kim) Hartline, Debbie (John) McCrary, Keith (Pamela) Hartline and Janet (Jason) Middlebrooks; grandchildren, Katie, Brian, Leanne, Elizabeth, Sidney, NataLee, Seth, Addison, Savannah, Lauren, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Mason and Gordon; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at 2 p.m. central time, in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Bro. Hayden Long and Rev. Ray Chism officiating. Interment will follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens with Brian Hartline, Seth McCrary, Nathan Middlebrooks, Wayne Myers, Tracy Ferguson, and Scott Smith serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Arrangements are by the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home; 400 Laurel Ave, South Pittsburg, 423-837-7176
