Jerry Lowery

RINGGOLD — Gerald “Jerry” Griffin Lowery, 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, July 4, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of the Ringgold area, Jerry was former owner/operator of Lowery Grocery for 25 years, and Lowery Construction for 37 years and a veteran of the National Guard and Army Reserve. A member of Boynton United Methodist Church, Jerry sang in the choir and served on the Board of Trustees, Sunday School Class President and United Methodist Men. He was a member of Quitman Lodge #106 F&AM, a member of Chattanooga Scottish Rites, Alhambra Shrine and served on the Board of North Georgia Electric Co-Op for almost 29 years and served as Chairman of the Board. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell “Judy” Pharr Lowery; son, Gene Lowery; parents, William Griffin and Mildrid Maureen Robertson Lowery; and brother, Lamar Lowery. Jerry is survived by his wife, Linda Holmes Lowery, of Ringgold, Ga.; two children, Bill (Sharone) Lowery, of Ooltewah, Tenn., and Chareen (Steve) Humble, of Ringgold, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Sandy Lowery, of Ringgold, Ga.; brother, Tommy Lowery of Ellijay, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Brandie (Matt) Parton, Ben Hatfield, Casey (Danny) Plunkett, Rebecca Hatfield, Jason Lowery, Steven (Katie) Lowery, Hannah (Caleb) Clements, Brett Lowery and Tyler Lowery; nine great-grandchildren, Zander, Riley, Skyler, Peyton, Avery, Fisher, Zachary, Anna Kate and Shepherd; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating Jerry’s life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Boynton United Methodist Church with Dr. Keith McLeod and Pastor Nena Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Boynton United Methodist Church or to the United Methodist Children’s Home. The family would like to give a special Thanks to Jerry’s caregivers, Amanda Gaddis and Heather Burrage for all they have done for Jerry and the family.
