Lela Thompson

LaFAYETTE — Lela Pearl Grant Thompson, 88, longtime resident of Northwest Georgia passed away peacefully at home Sunday, July 14, 2019. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Odie E. Thompson; her son, James Henry Thompson; parents, Edward A. and Carrie Ida Grant; grandson, Daniel Dewayne Winston; great-great-grandsons, Dejon Winston and Brailyn Winston; sisters, Bertha Dedmond, Alvenia Taylor, and Irene Adkins; brothers, Rev. Ed A. Grant, Tommy Lee Grant, Elijah Grant, and Paul Grant. Survivors include daughter, Carolyn (Lamar) Winston; daughter-in-law, Rita Thompson; brother, Gordon Grant; grandchildren, Paul (Kristie) Winston, Timothy (Ginger) Winston, and Tina (Michael) Hillis; great-grandchildren, Chastidy (Alex) Zeno, Daniel (Kaitlin Vercher) Winston, Nathaniel Winston, Matthew Winston, and Jordyn Hillis; great-great-grandchildren, Ace Finney, Cheilyn Zeno, and Lamar Zeno; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2019, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Bishop Paul Winston Jr., grandson, Timothy Winston, and Pastor Josh Edwards officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service after 12 p.m. Interment at LaFayette City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Daniel Winston, Michael Hillis, Alex Zeno, Chastidy Zeno, Nathaniel Winston, and Eddie Carl Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Jordyn Hillis and Ace Finney.
