C.B. Chambers

RINGGOLD — Columbus Baggett “C.B.” Chambers, son of Luke and Alice Chambers, a native of Ringgold, Ga., passed away at his home on June 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. C.B. was a Ringgold High School graduate, class of 1949. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he went to work at Norfolk Southern. He retired after 36 years with active membership in the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman and the United Transportation Union. He was active in his church community throughout his life. He served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Deacon Emeritus at Boynton Baptist Church. C.B. was preceded in death by his son, Chris Chambers; sister, Imogene Hughes; and brother, G.L. Chambers. C.B. was survived by his beautiful, loving wife of 62 years, June; son, Bill (Ann) Chambers; granddaughter, Christen (David) Ellison; great-grandchildren, Emily, Parker and Luke. The family would like to thank Heartlife Hospice, Brittany, and the rest of C.B.’s caregivers for all of their assistance during his time of need. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Boynton Baptist Church with Dr. Keith McLeod and Rev. Jimmy Hutto officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Dailey Hills Cemetery.
