Edith Brooks

Edith Wynn Brooks, 95, of East Ridge, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. She had lived most of her life in the Chattanooga area retiring in the 1990’s from Standard Coosa Thatcher as a Secretary with nearly 50 years of service. Edith enjoyed playing softball and for many years she was the pitcher for Standard Coosa Thatcher’s softball team. She was a longtime member of Temple Baptist Church where she had been active in the Choir and with the Golden Agers. Her passions in life were God, taking care of her husband and family, and spending time with her church family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Brooks; and sisters, Edna Gravley and Barbara Piatt. Survivors include her son, Gary (Teresa) Brooks; two grandchildren, David Brooks and Tracy Brooks (Mark) Frady; five great-grandchildren, Seth (Cindy) Brooks, Emily Brooks, Owen Brooks, Taylor Frady, and Katelyn Frady; great-great-grandchildren, Steffan, Amelia, and one on the way; nieces, Leigh Hixson, Kim Clements, and Sharon (Ron) Brown; nephews, Jim (Denise) Thompson, Benjamin Russell, and Ed Brooks; and other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Condolences may sent to lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church 3204 Clio Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37407 with Dr. James P. Rushing, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 noon until the funeral hour at Temple Baptist Church. Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville, GA.
