Nelda Jarvis
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Nelda Grace Miller Jarvis met her Savior on Feb. 4, 2019, in Fayetteville, Ark. She was 104.
Born Sept. 21, 1914, to David and Gertrude Miller, Nelda graduated from Chattanooga High School and married James E. Jarvis, managing editor
of the Chattanooga Times. She attended Brainerd United Methodist Church.
Nelda was President of the Curling Iron Club, a member of the Brainerd Garden Club and the Chattanooga Calligraphy Guild. In the thirties, she co-
hosted the Cooking School of the Air radio show. She acted in Little Theatre
productions and other plays. She was Training Director for Lovemans’ sales
staff.
Nelda was a gourmet cook, a clothing designer, a Sunday school teacher and
a true Christian. Her faith, kindness, intelligence, culture, practicality,
bravery and love touched everyone. She made friends wherever she went.
Nelda is preceded in death by husband Jimmy, sisters Nancy Patton, Martha
Sudderth, Juanita Shope and Joanne Vaughn. She is survived by sister
Bettye Sue Reep of Charlotte N.C.; her children David E. Jarvis of Las Vegas
and Susan Jarvis of Fayetteville, Ark.; granddaughter Nancy Kisner of Wichita, Kansas and great-granddaughters Jana Kisner of Phoenix and Audrey Kisner of Wichita.
Funeral will be Wednesday, Mar. 13, at Brainerd United Methodist Church
with 11:30 a.m. visitation in McFerrin Chapel and 1 p.m. services in the Fellowship Hall. Burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.
