Ronald Whiting

FORT OGLETHORPE — Ronald “Ron” C. Whiting, 77, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019. He was born in Sanford, Maine to the late Herbert and Marie Noel Whiting. He was of the Catholic faith and attended Fairview United Methodist Church of Rossville, Ga. He graduated from Hickory High School of Hickory, N.C., and proudly served our Nation in the U.S. Air Force. In 2000 he retired from North American Aviation and has resided in Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., for the last 15 years. He was a member of various square dancing clubs and enjoyed golf and singing. Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Liz Bierig; second wife, Luci Rabb, and sister, Pauline Opprecht Survivors include his loving wife, Miranda “Randie” Jones Skiles; children, Julie Wolf, Ron (Carolyn) Whiting, Tony Whiting, Suzanne (David) Phillips; grandchildren, Joe, Eli, Tom, and Cody Phillips, Sean and Catie Mooty, and Matthew Wolf, Zak, and Tyler Whiting; brother-in-law Neil Opprecht. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with Rev. Ronald Ragon officiating. The family would like to thank NHC of Rossville for their help and support during these difficult times.
