Houston Durham

SOUTH PITTSBURG — J. P. Houston Durham, 94, died Thursday, March 14, 2019, in a local nursing home. The son of the late Charlie Hope and Fannie Lee Reeves Durham, he was a member of Grace Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of U. S. Stove Company and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Joyce Durham; son, Larry Durham; brothers, Leonard Durham and Melton Durham; sisters, Christine Price, Elma Pelham, Opal Lehr, and Estelle Smith. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Larry Case; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Durham; grandchildren, Danny and Amy Durham, Jessica and Josh Echegaray, Derek Durham, and Holly Durham; great-grandchildren, Dara, Jack, Casen, Ivey, Dustin, Christian, Destiny, and James; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and special friends and caregivers, Karen and Brian Tetter. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Signature Healthcare of South Pittsburg Rehab and Wellness Center and to the staff of Amedisys Hospice. The love shown and care given to Mr. Durham during his time under their care will always remembered. Funeral services will be held at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at 2 p.m. Central time with Rev. Ronnie Case officiating. Interment will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, Tennessee. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 Noon Central until service time.
