Clayton Massengill
DECATUR — Clayton Robert Massengill, 82 died Monday, March 18, 2019, at Grace
Healthcare in Decatur.
He was a lifelong resident of Meigs County and was a son of the late Broughton
and Amy Tennyson Massengill.
He was also preceded in death by his wife
Dorothy Ingle Massengill and stepmother Sylvia Massengill.
He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U.S. Army. He was associated with Cumberland Case Company in Chattanooga as an inspector until his retirement.
He is survived by daughters, Cherie Stevenson of Chattanooga, and Lorie (Terry) Davis, of Rossville, Ga.; a step-daughter, Brenda Powell, of Oliver Springs; a step-son, David Powell, of Decatur; a half brother, Clarence Samples and his wife Faith of Michigan; grandchildren, Alexis Stevenson and Jake Davis; and a great-granddaughter, Annalise Stevenson.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted, 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019, in the Decatur Cemetery with Chaplain Marv Eskew officiating and military honors
provided by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday, at the funeral home prior to the graveside service.
The family suggests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society c/o Perry
Riden, 172 Co. Rd. 759, Riceville, TN 37370.
The family would like to express a special thanks to his nurse Lora Baker and the
Staff of Hearth Hospice and Grace Healthcare of Decatur.
