Elvin Cornelison
COHUTTA — Elvin “Gene” Cornelison, Jr., 70, passed away on Thursday May 16, 2019, at his home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Cornelison Sr.; two brothers, Billy and Richard Cornelison; sister, Debbie Cornelison Nix.
Mr. Cornelison proudly served in the U.S. Army and during the
Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya Gifford Cornelison, of Cohutta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gena and Brian Ergle, of Canton, Amie and
Aaron Murphy, of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Lindsay
Cornelison, of Dalton; mother, Catherine Cornelison, of Dalton; brother and
sister-in-law, Tom and Pat Cornelison, of Marietta; grandchildren, Landon
and Lillie Catherine Ergle, Leif and Dax Murphy, McKenzie and Bryson Cornelison; nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Cornelison will be held Monday, May 20, 2019, at 12:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Ergle and David Rose
officiating. Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the service time at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society.
