Billy Blackburn

OOLTEWAH- Billy Edward Blackburn, 89, has left his home in Ooltewah, TN, on May 24, 2019, boarded the Glory Land Express and is bound for his heavenly home. Bill was born July 10, 1929 in Knoxville, TN. He was a 4th generation Southern Railway employee where he rose to the rank of General Foreman through hard work and dedication; a proud family tradition. Meeting him at the station were his parents, Robert Samuel and Mary Lou Blackburn; sisters, Margaret Lindsey, Mildred Allen, Louise Wilshire; brothers, Jack, Buddy and Robert, Jr. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 70 years, Norma; his devoted daughters and “sons of the heart”, Diane (Donnie) Runyan, Candy (Mike) Brooks, Kathy (Jay) Dedmon, and Tina (Jon) Lutz. seven grandchildren, Wendy Brown, Nate Hood, Damon Runyan, Lacey Cordell, Gabe and Thad Dedmon and Erin Lutz; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many friends and special neighbors. Services will be held Tuesday, May 28 th at 3 p.m. in the chapel with Bishop Tim Ashley officiating. A private entombment will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
