Paul Kummer

Paul W. Kummer, 90, passed away peacefully, May 23, 2019, on Lookout Mountain, Ga. Paul was born into a family of eight children, in Stammheim, Northern Switzerland and attended college on the Lake of Geneva. As a multi-lingual, Paul’s career began as a chef, spanning across two continents, from Saint Moritz to Nassau. He joined the Canadian Pacific Company at Chateau Lake Louise and Chateau Frontenac and obtained a degree in Hospitality Management in Switzerland and the U.S. Whilst visiting home, he met his wife, Erika, whom he married a year later. He started his family in Miami, Florida, and Lexington, Kentucky where he was made an honorary “Kentucky Colonel”. After a brief stay back in Switzerland, he came back to the U.S. and settled on Lookout Mountain where he founded SwissAM Seasoning and Catering in 1985, together with his wife. As a food technologist, he always had a passion for innovation, and developed a line of herb and spice blends for SwissAM. His wife and son continue to run SwissAM Catering and Seasoning. He leaves his wife, Erika Kummer; son, Peter Kummer; daughter, Susan Barker; three grandchildren; a brother and sister. Special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and their very dedicated nurses and CNA’s. Services celebrating the life of Paul Kummer will take place at a later date.
