Martha Jane Buffalow Davis, 89, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 28, 2010.Born to Mamie Van Dusen Buffalow and O.T. Buffalow, she was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. Martha graduated from The Bright School, Girls Preparatory School, and Agnes Scott College.She was preceded in death by her brother, O.T. Buffalow Jr. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Martin H. Davis; daughter, Margaret Ann Rust, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; sons, Martin (Carol) Davis Jr., of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Mark Davis, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Jason (Nancy) Rust, Amanda (Derick) Whitt, and Martin Davis III; and four great-grandchildren and two nephews.Martha worked at the University of Chattanooga and then with her husband at Technical Laboratories Inc. Her favorite job was with the Chattanooga Regional Science and Engineering Fair, for which she worked for 50 years, 40 of which were in service as the Executive Director.As a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, Marthas first love and passion were to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She exhibited this love and passion through her commitment to missions and evangelism. With endless compassion, she reached out to many different people, but felt particularly called to reach out to disadvantaged and underprivileged youth she and Martin would unfailingly pick up the youth and bring them to Second Presbyterian for activities. One of her final wishes was that her service be an opportunity for an attendee to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.The family wishes to give special thanks to Marthas dedicated caregivers, Jean Steelmon and Sharon Hines, and to Christin Miller, RN, of Hospice of Chattanooga.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., Chattanooga, with the Rev. James Davenport officiating. Visitation will be held at Second Presbyterian on Saturday, July 31 from 10 a.m. until the service.Interment will immediately follow the service in Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, Bethel Bible Village, and Hospice of Chattanooga.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.mem.com.Arrangements are made by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
