Ermell Mosley Reed, 73, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010.A native of LaFayette, Ga., Ermell was a 1954 graduate of Howard High School. She earned a BSdegree from Tennessee A&I State University and a MSdegree from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was employed as an Educator with Chattanooga City Schools for more than 30 years, serving the students of Howard Elementary School before retiring in 1993.She was a member of First Baptist Church, East Eight Street, Hazel E. Robinson Bowles Foundation, Founding Committee Member of the Chattanooga Hamilton County Retired Teachers Association and a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Chattanooga Alumnae Chapter.She was preceded in death by her husband, Freeman Reed and her parents, Lee Mosley Sr. and Eloise Suttles Mosley.Ermell leaves to cherish her memories, devoted brothers, Lee (Ruby) Mosley Jr. and Reginald Mosley, both of Chattanooga; stepchildren, Rosalyn Reed Hurt, Priscilla Reed Hale and Travis L. Reed, nieces and nephews, stepgrandchildren, cousins, and a host of extended family and friends.Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Omega Omega Service will be held at 6 p.m. today in the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.The body will lie in state after noon today in the funeral home chapel.Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at First Baptist Church, East Eight St., with Rev. William T. Ladd III officiating.Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.Arrangements are by Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home.
