DAYTON Richard Dan Denton, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at his home.He was born on Apr. 15, 1923, the son of the late Richard Jack Denton and Callie (Morgan) Denton.He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Ann Denton and his sister, Ruth Denton.Dan was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he was a semi truck driver for 57 years.He served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, serving in the South Pacific.He was a member of the Spivey Memorial United Methodist Church.He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna Kate (Mayton) Denton; his son, Richard Dean Denton and his granddaughter, Janet Denton, all of Dayton; his sister, Mary Kate Phillips, of Norris, Tenn.Funeral services for Dan will be held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, the Rev.
