William Kirk Slaughter, 37, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010.Kirk attended St. Jude Elementary school and Baylor High School in Chattanooga. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Environmental Engineering and pursued that field via his employment with AE Com Technology Corp. in Cary, N.C. Kirk was also an Eagle Scout from Troop 172 in Chattanooga being mentored to that award by scout leaders, Richard Buhrman, Tom and Bernie Combs. Kirk was an avid outdoorsman. He and his brothers and father enjoyed lots of hunting and fishing together and have many tales regarding these adventures and many cherished memories.Kirk was the beloved son of Billy R. Slaughter and Theresa H. Slaughter, of Hixson. His fiance, Jessica Roberts, also of Chattanooga, is heartbroken and will miss him terribly. Kirk is also survived by his brothers, Keith Garrett Slaughter and Robert Taft Slaughter; aunt, Ella Cobb and cousins, Kevin, Mike, Tim and Chris, aunt, Gail Overcash and cousins, Tim and Gay; cousins, Leann LaRose, Brad Hardin and numerous second cousins.The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 6 in the St. Jude Church Parrish Life Center located at 930 Ashland Terrace in Hixson.A Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. in the church prior to the visitation.A memorial mass will be celebrated in honor of his life Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Church.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Building Fund.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist.
