James Edward Lewis, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2012, in a local health care facility.He was an Army veteran and retired from Huntsville Hospital as well as Cummings Warehouse. He had also been employed by Chattanooga Railroad.He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Lewis.Survivors include sons, James W. Lewis and Roland Haygood, both of Chattanooga; daughters, Juanita Lewis, of Chattanooga and Doris Gillespie, of Huntsville, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; niece, Blossie Edmonds; nephew, Lamont Hogan; sister-in-law, Mildred Porter; several other relatives and friends.The body will lie-in state after 12:30 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service will be at noon Thursday in the chapel with Pastor J.W. Cole as the eulogist. Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
