Ralph H. Payton, 83, of Chattanooga, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012.Ralph was born in DeKalb County, Ala., the youngest of 10 children born to James Daniel and Leila Angie Roberts Payton. He had lived all of his adult life in Chattanooga.He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and recently received the Honor of Deacon Emeritus. He was retired from Combustion Engineering and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Brian Cook.Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Turner Payton; daughter, Beverly Boyers; granddaughter, Courtney Pittard, of Alpharetta, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Payton and Davis Pittard; sister, Frances P.
