FRANKFORT, Ky. Gail Robinson, 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, surrounded by her family at the home she helped to build in the woods of northern Franklin County, Ky.Gail was raised on Lookout Mountain, Ga., and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1972. She worked as a social worker and math teacher in inner Louisville, and graduated with a law degree from the University of Louisville in 1976. She worked in private practice with her husband Kevin and with Kentuckys Department of Public Advocacy, specializing in the defense of juveniles and in opposition to the death penalty. She and her colleagues were responsible for freeing an innocent juvenile death row inmate in 2002. She was an amazing and selfless daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, lawyer, teacher, school board member, social worker, feminist, activist and mentor. Gail used her passion and intelligence in the service of others in her life and career. She was forever trusting and an optimist to the end.Gail is survived by her husband, Kevin McNally; stepmother, DeLys Robinson; sisters, Nancy (Lynn) Pruitt and Debbie (Bob) Johnson; stepsisters, Sara Tamboli and Janet Mattice; stepbrother, Jim LeVan; and three sons, Sean (Katherine) McNally, Jesse (Andrea) Robinson and Will (Joelle) Robinson.She was preceded in death by her parents, Annelu and William Robinson.Visitation will be held from 9- 11 a.m. today, Aug. 30, at Bridgeport Christian Church, 175 Evergreen Road, Frankfort, and the memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m.Guestbook online @ ljtfuneralhome.com.The family asks that you consider donations to the Franklin County Womens Shelter (303 East Third St., Frankfort, KY 40601) in lieu of flowers.
