MONTREAL, Mo. J.M. Brown, 85, departed this life on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at his residence in Montreal.J.M. was born Aug. 3, 1927 in Montreal, Mo., the son of James Madison and Lena Doyle Brown.J.M. had served in both the United States Army and the Missouri National Guard.J.M. was married to Melva Gouge from October 1949 until her death in July, 1993, and was re-married Nov. 8, 1993 to Melba Stutsman in Gatlinburg, Tenn.J.M. retired from CF Industries in Chattanooga, where he had worked for over 20 years as an operating engineer. In his spare time, he enjoyed buying, selling or trading almost anything and attending horse shows. In his younger years he was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. More than anything though, he loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.J.M. is survived by two sons, Rodney Brown and wife, Mary, of Chattanooga, and Douglas Brown and wife, Deborah, of Dalhart, Texas; one stepson, Mike Claiborn of Montreal, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Sandra Fry and Kelley McDaniel and husband, Terry, all of Montreal; one sister, Mattie Long, of Montreal; four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren and eight stepgreat-grandchildren along with several other relatives and friends.In addition to his first wife Melva, J.M. was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. today, Aug. 30, 2012 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Mo.The family will receive friends for visitation from noon-1 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.Interment will be at Montreal Cemetery, Montreal, Mo.Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family at www.hedgesscottfuneralhomes.com.Arrangements have been placed under the care of Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Camdenton, Mo.
