CHICKAMAUGA Hazel Mae Gravitt Rutledge, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at her residence.Before moving to Chickamauga, Mrs. Rutledge was a member of the LaFayette Womens Club. She had a passion for gardening, and was known for her award winning roses which she shared generously with others. She also ran a successful antiquing business. She enjoyed knitting, dancing, bowling, cooking, playing bridge and golf. Outside of these hobbies, the one thing that brought her the most joy was spending time with her family being a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was preceded in death by her husband, James Morris Rutledge Sr.; her son, James Morris Rutledge Jr.; and her sisters, Amanda Alexander, Dorothy Mullis, Ruth Phillips and Frankie Good.Survivors include her brother, John D. Gravitt, Chickamauga, Ga.; grandchildren, James "Jay" M. Rutledge III and wife, Mikki and Lindsey R. Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ryan Rutledge; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in LaFayette Memory Gardens.
