SPRINGCITY James Monroe "Jimmy" Garrison 76 went to be with his Lord on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 surrounded by his beloved family. Jimmy was a soft spoken, kind, and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.Jimmy was born in Spring City, Tenn., on Aug. 15, 1936 and was a graduate of Spring City High School Class of 1954. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spring City and had served as a volunteer of SCAN (Senior Citizen Awareness Network) with the Rhea County Sheriff's Department. Jimmy served his country in the U. S. Army. He retired from A.B.F. Transport in 1998. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Grover Cleveland and Mae Monday Garrison.Survivors include wife of 39 years, Mary Sue Fischesser Garrison, of Spring City; daughter Amy (Brian) Hager of Chattanooga; son Jim (Penny) Ewing, of Rock Spring, Ga., daughter Kim (Chip) Carter, of Ringgold, Ga., son Jerry (Summer) Garrison of Ringgold, Ga.; sisters Imogene (Earl) Robbins, of Spring City, Patsy Baker, of Oak Ridge and Wanda (Gene) Yates of Stevenson, Ala.; brother Tommy Garrison, of Kingston, Tenn.; sister-in-law Janet (Jimmy) Simpson, of Spring City; brothers-in-law Don (Jackie) Hill, of Chattanooga and Terry Fischesser, of Spring City; grandchildren Andy, Katie and Cy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends, and his beloved companion "Casper".A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Spring City with Rev. Brian Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring City Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before services on Wednesday. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Vaughn Funeral Home.
