Eunice Brooks, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012. Our mother and G-mother was born on Dec. 12, 1929 to the late Hettie Maddox and J. B. Jones in Camp Hill, Ala. She accepted Christ as a child but recommitted her life to him as a young adult. She moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1945 when she married the late Noble Brooks on Feb. 7, 1945. They were blessed with four children, Constance "Beverly" Brooks, Ouida "Pam" (George) Hudgins, the late Anthony and Sharon Brooks. She was a believer in Jesus Christ and member of Friendship Community Church. She retired from Erlanger Medical Center on July 28, 1997. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Booker T. Maddox; sisters Carrie Mae Henry and Betty Jean Tolbert.She leaves to cherish her sisters Hazel Jean Nunn, Betsy Ruth Ingram and Katherine Pearson of Opelika, Ala., Geneva Maddox, Farmingdale, N.Y., Emily Williams of Birmingham, Ala.; and brother, Jimmy Maddox, Farmingdale, N.Y.; She has eight devoted grandchildren, Shannon Schreane (Carmen), George Hudgins, IV, Marcus McKibben (Cassandra), Robert (Rosie) Hudgins, Sr., Danielle Orr, Antoinette Lester, Kenya Smith, Ryan Orr and Dominique Scott; She has 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She also cherishes the lifelong friendship of Mary Lois Jones-Grace and special friend Lucille Bell. The body will lie-in-state today after Noon at Taylor Funeral Home. The body will also lie-in-state on Saturday, Dec. 22, at noon at Friendship Community Church, 7 North Tuxedo Avenue, Chattanooga, TN with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m., Bishop Sean Teal, Sr. as the eulogist. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery.
