Robert Fowler


CHICKAMAUGA Robert "Frankie" Franklin Fowler, 78, went home to be with his Lord, on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012.He was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was of the Baptist Faith. Frankie served his country as a military Intelligence technician in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and 2 tours in the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star before retiring in 1972. Frankie also retired from Walker Co. as the Director of Civil Defense in 1992 after 20 yrs. He was a great and honorable man who will be missed greatly by his family.Frankie was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Paskel and Beulah Mae Autry Fowler; son, Richard Fowler; sister, Lillie Mae Nibblett; and brother, Bob Fowler.He is survived by his wife, of 50 yrs., Joyce Fowler; children, Robert Fowler, Jr., of Chickamauga, Debbie (Michael) Garrett, of N.C., and Michael (Carmen) Fowler, of Harrison; 2 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be held at Noon on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. on Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.
