ROSSVILLE Carl Edward Thurman, 63, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, in a local hospital. He was born in Rock, W.Va. on Feb. 14, 1948 and was a veteran of the VietNam War and was retired from the Rossville branch of the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Fort Oglethorpe Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruby; brothers, Charles and John Jr. Thurman.He is survived by his wife of 43 years Jackie; children, Sheri Buffington, Jeremy (Liz) Thurman, Erica (Randy) Parks; grandchildren, Justin and Megan Buffington; sister, Elsie (Jim) Davis; brother, Phil (Lois) Thurman and several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at the Fort Oglethorpe Kingdom Hall.Funeral arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, Franklin-Strickland-Pinkard-Bryan-Smith Funeral Directors, 1724 McCallie Ave., 423-265-4414.
