Willie L. Chaney, 77, passed at his residence on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012.He was born in Social Circle, Ga. He was a faithful and active member of Harris Chapel AME Church.Willie had been a star athlete at Howard High School and played baseball with several teams of the city. He was a member of the class of 1956 of Howard High School.He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Lucious Chaney; son, Jared Andrews; and brother, Alonzo Chaney.He is survived by a son, Michael Chaney; grandson, Jared Andrews; granddaughters Veneacia and Brittany Chaney; special friend, Flossie Batts; aunts, uncles and cousins.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, in the Chapel with the Rev. McDaniel Bowman officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery.The body will lie state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
