James Edgar "Sonny" Delashmitt Sr., 79, of Chattanooga passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012.He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, son of the late Oscar and Eva Delashmitt.Sonny was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from U.S. Pipe after 25 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and the United States Army Band 129th.He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Raymond, Robert, Ada and Willie Delashmitt, Grace Hicks, Irene Gass; and a grandson, Jason Price.Survivors are his wife, Maxine Delashmitt; daughters Brenda (Mickey) Crawley, Diane (Roy) Price, Debbie Delashmitt; and a son, Jim (Tammie) Delashmitt, all of Chattanooga; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 8, and from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, July 9, at the North Chapel.Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Martin and the Rev.
