CHICKAMAUGA George Frank Stanfield, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012.He was born in Trion, Ga., to the late Samuel C. and Bessie Mae Acrey Stanfield. He served his country in the U.S. Army where he received the Korean Service Medal with one bronze star, Germany Occupation Medal and the National Defense Medal. After his service time, he worked as a truck driver and his last employment was with Smith Transport in Chattanooga.He was of the Lutheran faith and enjoyed riding motorcycles and camping. He was a member of the Scenic City Cruisers of Chattanooga where he enjoyed riding his Hondas.Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, L.D. Stanfield; sisters, Nurine Ward, Wilma Lee Tate, and Kizzie Mae Lively.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, George Ann Kummers Stanfield; son and daughter-in-law, Donnie Gene and Rhonda Steinfield; grandchildren, Tony and Meagan Stanfield, all of Chickamauga, Ga.; sister, Yvonne Dunwoody, of LaFayette, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Friday July 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning July 14, prior to the service.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday July 14, with Chaplain Pat Davis officiating.Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens-South.Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Homes-Chickamauga Chapel.Online register book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com
