Peggie Virginia Akridge, 71, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, in a local hospital.She was formerly employed by Hamilton County Health Department and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dandra Akridge; parents, Major and Sally Akridge Sr.; brothers, Major Akridge Jr. and Albert Akridge; sisters, Esther Goodman, Admonia Nollie, Carrie Barber and Robbie Moore.Survivors include one daughter, Gillian Akridge of Hixson; six grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchilren; brother, Napoleon B. Akridge; sister, Sara E. Henson, both of Chattanooga; aunt, Carrie Whitney, of Newark, N.J.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.The body will lie-in-state on Saturday after 9:30 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the funeral to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Morris Johnson as the eulogist.Burial: Highland Memorial Gardens.
