RINGGOLD Robert Underwood Belcher, "the Peppermint Man", 91, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at his residence. Bob was a resident of Chattanooga and Catoosa county for over 70 years. Robert was a member of Boynton Baptist Church, the CCC, Boynton Lions Club, and the Ringgold Thompson Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by daughter, Cathy Hatch; and grandson, Robert Bing.Survivors are wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Belcher; son, Bobby Belcher, Dunlap; daughters, Joy Smothers (Tom), Apison, Patricia Harris (Frank), Wetumpka, Ala.; sister, Retha Smitherman, Centreville, Ala.; grandchildren, Taylor and Beau Belcher, Shane and Paige Hatch, and Dean and Dickey Bing.Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 16 in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating.
