Marjorie Mahoney Covington, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 19, 2012, in a local hospital.Mrs. Covington taught fourth grade at McBrien Elementary for 25 years. She was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church for over 50 years before becoming a member of Brainerd United Methodist Church. She and her husband, Edwin, worked with the youth groups at St. Andrews for many years where she served as the church organist and director of Christian Education. A member of Tennessee Retired Teachers Association.Preceded in death by her parents, the late John and Ella Mae Franklin Mahoney, early pioneer settlers of Johnson City, Tenn.Survived by loving husband of 64 years, Edwin Covington, of Chattanooga; three sons, Richard and John Covington, both of Chattanooga and Stephen Covington and his wife, Dianne, of Asheville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Inez and Mikaela Covington and Misty Gauthier; sister-in-law, Dathyne Covington; cousin, Albert Covington and his wife, Connie.Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Brainerd United Methodist Church with Dr. Dennis Flaugher Sr., Rev. Genevieve Dehoog and Rev.
